The new skills I acquired from working on the Web Design assignment was the ability to make a Google Calendar and add it to a website, the ability to make links to websites on a website, and the ability to make a website in general, as I did not know how to before. The design principles I used when designing my website were an aesthetically pleasing website, the use of color, and fluidity in my work. Each page of the website used the same format and had great color usage. The titles were the same size and placement. The fonts were all the same colors and were only different when they needed to be for focus intentions. I liked that the assignment was simple to do in terms of technology. I am not exactly fluid in this department, so the advantages of Weebly helped a lot. I disliked that I couldn’t make it as if I were actually working at a certain school. Yes, I put a fake school, but I wish it were real. I put a lot of effort into this assignment, so it is a shame I couldn’t use this exact one for the future of my teaching career. I can see myself using website design skills in my future career by making a website to connect with the teachers. There are a lot of questions parents ask, and having a website to list the answers and easily accessible links would be wonderful.

A creative way I might use QR codes in my classroom is to use them for tests. I have had many teachers make us type the test in our browser to get to it. If I made a QR code of it, that would be beneficial and make things much easier. I could also put a QR code of my website on the syllabus to make it easier to find. QR codes have unlimited potential, and I believe they can be used for so many things.

I used ChatGPT to generate a case study related to the ethical use of technology for teacher productivity. Here is what it gave me:

Case Study: Using AI Tools for Lesson Planning
Background
Ms. Rivera is a high school English teacher who wants to improve her productivity. She teaches five classes and spends many hours each week planning lessons, creating worksheets, and writing discussion questions. To save time, she begins using an artificial intelligence tool such as ChatGPT to help generate lesson plans, quizzes, and writing prompts.
Situation
At first, the technology helps Ms. Rivera work more efficiently. She can quickly generate ideas for activities and spend more time helping students individually. However, she soon begins copying some AI-generated material directly into assignments without reviewing it carefully. On one occasion, the tool produced a worksheet with incorrect information about a novel the class is studying.
At the same time, Ms. Rivera uploads examples of student essays into the tool to get suggestions for feedback. She does not remove student names before uploading them.
Ethical Concerns
Several ethical issues arise in this situation:
  • Accuracy and reliability – AI-generated content may contain errors that could mislead students if not checked.
  • Student privacy – Uploading identifiable student work could violate privacy policies or school rules.
  • Academic integrity – Teachers must ensure they are still designing meaningful instruction rather than relying completely on automated tools.
  • Transparency – Students and administrators may expect teachers to disclose when technology significantly contributes to assignments or materials.”

I would fix this problem by first being more careful when using ChatGPT. I would always fact-check the information given to me, as AI will commonly give the wrong details. I would also stop putting students' names in the generator. This is a violation of their privacy. In fact, I would also stop putting their hard work into a generator for easier grading. I would do it myself, as they never consented to their work being given up like that. I would not use AI as something that generates the whole idea, but rather to enhance my lessons. I will still have that authentic human touch in my work. For the transparency issue, I would fix this by simply making it known that I use ChatGPT as an aid. I would not be using it to do all of the work, so I would also state that. Revealing the aid is better than keeping it to myself, as that is unethical. I believe doing all of these things to fix the situations is ethical because it protects my students' privacy, allows for correct and human-based lessons, and shares what I am doing so it is not hidden from the parents and students.

  1. Brooke, fantastic job on your website design. Your website was intuitive, visually appealing, and easy to navigate. I especially liked your use of quotations from the principal, this was a nice touch.

  2. Hi! You used the design principles super well for your website design. I love the cohesive theme with the colors of black, white, and red. This repetitive design is very visually appealing and does not overwhelm the viewer. Great job!
